On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Gabon officially enters its Fifth Republic as President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema is formally inaugurated at the Friendship Stadium in Angondjé, Libreville.
The event draws a high-profile roster of African leaders, including Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo (Equatorial Guinea), Bassirou Diomaye Faye (Senegal), Adama Barrow (Gambia), Julius Maada Bio (Sierra Leone), Ismaïl Omar Guelleh (Djibouti), Faustin-Archange Touadéra (Central African Republic), Umaro Sissoco Embaló (Guinea-Bissau), and the President of Ghana. Cameroon’s Prime Minister is also in attendance.
Delegations from Morocco, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, the African Union, China, France, the United States, Japan, Turkey, and Israel highlight the global significance of this historic transition. A new political chapter begins in Gabon.
